Fiber Composition

Polyester Products

Polyester is used across many home-textile constructions, including fleece, microfiber, printed fabrics, mat surfaces and utility textiles. It can provide flexible design and production options, but products with the same fiber name may perform very differently because of yarn, pile, density, weight, finishing and product architecture.

Composition profile

A useful sourcing category—not a complete performance specification.

Use the composition page to identify relevant product directions, then compare the construction and finished specification of each product.

01 · COMMON CHARACTERISTICS

Performance directions often associated with this composition

  • Commonly used where color, printing and varied surface constructions are required
  • May support relatively quick drying in suitable lightweight or open constructions
  • Can be engineered from smooth and low-pile fabrics to plush fleece or chenille surfaces
  • Softness, absorbency, pilling, shedding and wash behavior depend on the finished construction
02 · COMMON PRODUCT TYPES

Product categories where this composition may be used

  • Fleece blankets and printed throws
  • Microfiber cleaning and bathroom textiles
  • Chenille, printed and utility floor mats
  • Promotional and private-label textile programs
03 · BUYER CHECKS

Details to confirm before quotation or sample approval

  • Define yarn type, pile or surface structure and finished weight
  • Confirm whether absorbency comes from construction, finish or additional layers
  • Review pilling, shedding, hand feel and dimensional stability where relevant
  • Specify printing, edge treatment, backing and packaging by product type
04 · LABEL & SPECIFICATION

Use the exact product composition in commercial documents

  • State the actual percentage breakdown for the selected product
  • Keep product page, sample record, label and purchase order consistent
  • Separate the fiber statement from unsupported performance claims
  • Confirm destination-market requirements for the final SKU and sales channel

Important qualification

Fiber composition does not determine product performance on its own.

Two products with the same stated composition can differ substantially in feel, absorbency, drying, cleaning behavior, shedding, durability, dimensional stability and cost.

Yarn & Fiber Geometry Denier, twist, splitting and yarn preparation influence surface and capillary behavior.
Weave or Knit Fabric structure changes density, flexibility, texture and intended use.
GSM & Piece Weight Weight affects hand feel, cost, drying, packing and performance targets.
Pile & Surface Pile height, loops, cut surface and texture alter contact and product feel.
Dyeing & Finishing Heat setting, softeners and other finishes can change the finished result.
Product Architecture Backing, layers, edging, sewing and packaging also influence final performance.
